Ultra-small 24-bit audio DAC targets portables
Rich Pell12/7/2007 10:53 AM EST
Specifications include a power consumption of 6.8 mW (DAC plus headphone, no output) at 1.8 V, and a minimum supply voltage capability of 1.6 V. An integrated PLL accepts external BICK and LRCK as clock sources, in addition to cell phone standards and USB system clock frequencies.
Other features include analog and digital headphone volume controls, and support for external stereo and mono analog inputs, which can be internally mixed, eliminating the need for external switches. Control of power management, volume, and analog mixing functions is via a three-wire or I2C bus interface.
The AK4372 is housed in an ultra-miniature 24-pin CSP. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
