Atmel streamlines capacitive touch interface design
Julien HappichNovember 2009
The Atmel QTouch Suite is a bundle that includes a new development kit (QT600), and the free QTouch Studio, AVR Studio and QTouch Library software packages for AVR microcontrollers.
The QT600 scalable design allows the designer to use their own touch sensor boards with three board options already mounted with the Attiny88, ATmega324PA or Atxmega128A1 microcontrollers, or connect any of the sleek pre-designed QT600 sensor modules offering 8, 16 or 64 channels, directly to their own application.
A USB-powered in-system programmer interface board completes the offering. Although the MCU and the programmer board are all supported by the company's STK600 development board, the QT600 comes as a self-sufficient solution available complete with design and layout files ready to speed time to market.
The QTouch Suite supports development and analysis of capacitive touch button, sliders and wheels in applications using 8- and 32-bit AVR microcontrollers.
QTouch Studio supports both the QT600 development kit and the designer’s own application. AVR Studio remains the primary tool for developing code aimed at the AVR microcontrollers.
