Based on the 2nd generation Intel Core processor family, Mercury Computer Systems Inc.’s has developed the Ensemble Series 6U OpenVPX LDS6521 and the 3U OpenVPX SBC3510 modules for demanding ISR, defense, and aerospace applications.

Mercury’s 6U OpenVPX LDS6521 module utilizes the Intel Core i7-2715QE processor, doubling the number of cores available on a single device over the previous generation. It now supports four cores, each of which includes the new Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (Intel AVX) instruction set with only a minimal increase in power consumption. As a result, the LDS6521 yields a 4X improvement in peak floating point computations per slot over previous module designs while maintaining an appropriate SWaP-optimized power profile, according to Mercury.

Mercury’s 3U OpenVPX SBC3510 incorporates the dual core Intel Core i7-2655LE processor, an industry standard XMC daughter card site and diverse I/O capabilities, providing traditional SBC functionality in a small 3U package.

Availability: In air-cooled and conduction-cooled rugged versions.
