Menlo Park, Calif. Raychem Circuit Protection, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, has expanded its circuit protection portfolio with the introduction of RoHS-compliant PolySwitch miniSMDC and SMD terminal devices for the automotive industry.
The PolySwitch Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) devices help provide resettable overcurrent protection in applications where conserving board space is a critical design factor, such as printed-circuit-board traces, motors, harnesses, chargers, hands free applications and multimedia input ports, said the company.
The PolySwitch devices are available with voltage ratings from 6 to 60 volts and hold-current ratings from 50 mA to 2.6 A. The SMD devices are available in standard 1206 to 3425 sizes, with smaller sizes coming soon. These PolySwitch devices are compatible with industry standard installation procedures.
Available in tape and reel packaging, the PolySwitch devices are priced at $0.30 in quantities of 100,000/year. Delivery is eight to ten weeks.
