Crimp-style connectors offer design flexibility

JST Corp. developed the PNI series of crimp-style connectors that offer both wire-to-board and wire-to-wire applications on a 2mm (0.79”) pitch.

The PNI series incorporates either wire-to-wire or wire-to-board connections without switching to a different connector series. The through-hole headers and housings incorporate both polarization and secure, positive locking. The positive locking incorporates an inertia lock feature designed to prevent incomplete mating of the connector halves.

The PNI Series is suitable for high vibration applications. Optional secondary retainers ensure the contacts are fully seated and locked into the housings to prevent any chance of contact back-out.

The PNI single row, crimp style connector series is available in two through 10 circuits and is rated at 3.0 A (AC/DC) using a 22 AWG wire at 100 V AC/DC. Wire sizes range from AWG # 28 to 22. Temperature range is -250C to +850C, including temperature rise in applying electrical current. Contacts are tin-plated over a cooper alloy base. The PNI receptacle housings are molded of PA66 Nylon. The top-entry, fully shrouded headers are molded of PBT (glass filled) material. Both are molded in RoHS compliant 94V-0 rated materials. The wire-to-wire receptacles are available with or without unique space-saving panel locks designed to prevent tangling with wires or breaking in cold or dry environments.

Contacts are offered on standard size reels for semi-automatic or fully automatic application tooling.
