Sandvine's Usage Management takes service plan innovation to the next level
WATERLOO, ON, Feb. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX:SVC; AIM:SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced it has released the latest version of its turnkey Usage Management product, with plug-and-play capabilities to roll out new revenue opportunities including service tiers, roaming notifications, bill shock prevention, family plans, data bundles and bolt-ons. In addition to traditional usage-based service creation, Sandvine's Usage Management enables unique service innovations such as bundling data access with content purchases from retail outlets.
Since its launch in 2009, Sandvine's Usage Management has been deployed in over 80 service provider networks including those previously announced at Cricket Communications (Jan 2010), TelefonicaApril 2011 and Vox Telecom (Nov 2011).
"As mobile networks migrate from 3G to LTE, the need for universal service plans that bridge these technologies is critical," said Don Bowman, CTO, Sandvine. "From prepaid services to postpaid family plans and bolt-ons, tier one operators rely on our speed, accuracy and commitment to standards to roll out new revenue generating services."
Sandvine's Usage Management 4.50 features include:
- Plug-and-play policies that enable rapid definition and deployment of innovative service plans, and individual and shared bundles
- Real-time traffic classification and metering of network applications resulting in accurate billing and revenue leakage prevention
- Turnkey provisioning and integration with existing B/OSS systems using standard interfaces
- Scalability to meet the needs of the smallest and largest networks, of more than 25 million subscribers
- Best-in-class implementation of 3GPP Policy and Charging Control standards in a best-of-breed product
- Proven interoperability with a wide range of solution partners in LTE, 3G, mobile, cable, DSL and converged networks
"Our Usage Management product moves beyond service creation and introduces service innovation," said Mr. Bowman. "The flexibility of our product allows operators to build plans and bundles targeting the unique behaviors of their subscribers. Sandvine's Usage Management helped launch a high speed gaming offer—for leading African operator, Vox Telecom—offering subscribers who purchase a new video game in a retail store, 40GB of additional bandwidth prioritized for gaming. Vox Telecom's critical understanding of the applications on their network drove this innovative service plan, building loyalty with their existing gaming customers and opening the door for future gamers."
