Designed to handle processing-intensive applications in industrial automation markets, high performing, scalable and flexible multicore solutions based on the TMS320C66x DSP are now available. Smart cameras, vision controllers and optical inspection systems benefit from ultra-high performance, combined fixed-and floating-point performance, and increased number of peripherals and memory per core. A robust suite of multicore software, tools and support is available to ease development.
The result is improved compute performance, large on-chip memory and multiple high speed interfaces that enable industrial automation developers to implement advanced features and achieve higher system integration.
Comprehensive low cost evaluation modules (EVM) are available from TI. Designers can begin development on the C6678 multicore DSP with the TMDSEVM6678L for $399. The EVM includes a free MCSDK, Code Composer Studio integrated development environment (IDE) and suite of application/demo codes to allow programmers to quickly come up to speed on the new platform. Pricing for the C66x multicore DSPs start at $99 for 1Ku. Visit TI for more information.
