TP5000 NTP delivers 120,000 transactions/sec.

Symmetricom’s TimeProvider 5000, deployed commercially in over 100 networks globally representing a 95% market share, is considered by the company to be the gold standard for the PTP Grand Master Clock. Now that capability is expanded so that the TP5000 is a multi-standard source for sync supporting TDM, T1/E1 environment, PTP, NTP, and SyncE. Also unveiled is a high-capacity TP5000 NTP to specifically address Femtocell deployments providing scalability and performance as well as precision time accuracy for mission-critical services and applications.

Compared with a typical transactions-per-second county of 7,000, the TP5000 NTP server supports 120,000 transactions per second which an be equated to serving tens of thousands of Femtocells connected to a single chassis. The expanded capacity is especially important to support dense Femtocell deployment should a network go dark, and to light it back up every box hits the network simultaneously. In addition to the dramatic increase in transaction-handling capabilities, key features include:

Addressing such applications as wireless Ethernet backhaul, 3G and 4G/LTE, the TimeProvider 5000 Master Clock for carrier Ethernet and LTE enhancements include scalable capacity supporting FDD and TDD synchronization requirements, and the simultaneous support of PTP, SyncE, and NTP network elements.

In addition to redundant hardware for inputs, outputs, clock and power, two scalable expansion boxes add support to the TP5000 PTP Grandmaster:

• TimeProvider Expansion 10 for SyncE plus PTP phase profile support
• TimeProvider Expansion 30 for E1 plus TOD sync outputs

If additional support is required, up to 10 more chassis can be added to a TP5000 master.
