A two-channel, high-performance 14-bit, 125-MSPS A/D converter by Analog Devices, reduces total power consumption by 22% over competing solutions. Delivering high speed and wide dynamic range at lower power, the A/D converter is available in a 5-mm × 5-mm package, a 30 percent space savings over competitive solutions.
Meeting the performance and size requirements of the latest 3G and 4G multi-standard cellular infrastructure equipment, such as CDMA2000, WB-CDMA, LTE, TD-SCDMA and multi-carrier GSM, other key applications include battery-powered, hand-held instruments, scopes and portable medical devices.

The dual AD9645 A/D converter consumes 122 mW/channel at 125 mega samples per second (MSPS) and features excellent spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) performance of 91 dBc at 70 MHz. With an IF sampling range of up to of 200 MHz, the device is designed for use in multi-mode digital receiver architectures. A pin-compatible dual 12-bit version, the AD9635 is also available, enabling an easy migration path between 12-bit and 14-bit converters with sampling rates from 20 MSPS to 125 MSPS.
The converter features a multi-stage, differential pipelined architecture with integrated output-error-correction logic, and is available in a 32-lead RoHS-compliant LFCSP and is specified over the industrial temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. It features a space-saving serial 1.8-V LVDS digital output with two lanes per channel.
AD9645 features include:
SNR = 74.3 dBFS at fIN up to Nyquist input frequency; 125 MSPS sampling rate
-
ENOB of 12 at fIN up to Nyquist input frequency
-
SFDR = 91 dBc at fIN = 70 MHz
-
Excellent DC linearity
-
DNL = ±0.65 LSB typical
INL = ±1.5 LSB typical
Pricing for the AD9645 Dual 14-bit is $51.99 with MSPS of 125, and $27.99 with MSPS of 80, and housed in a 32-lead LFCSP 5mm x 5mm. The AD9635 is priced at $29.49 for 125 MSPS and $18.69 for MSPS of 80 in the same form factor. Available now.
