Silicon Image has announced GameChanger 60 GHz WirelessHD low-power reference designs for notebooks PCs, tablet computers, and smartphone accessories. GameChanger reference designs are complete 60 GHz transmitter and receiver systems that support interactive wireless HD video and audio transmission between portable devices and larger WirelessHD-compliant HDMI or MHL-enabled displays and projectors. These system level solutions are based on Silicon Image’s third-generation 60 GHz wireless chipset, which is specifically designed for high quality, ultra-low latency HD video applications and provides all of the functionality needed to enable a complete WirelessHD solution.

Silicon Image’s WirelessHD chipset consists of the SiI6310 60GHz RF Transceiver, the SiI6320 WirelessHD Transmitter Network Processor and the SiI6321 WirelessHD Receiver Network Processor and supports full 1080P/60 high-definition video with near-zero latency, a necessity for gaming, video conferencing, and other interactive video applications.

The GameChanger reference designs enable a new class of interactive HD video applications for portable devices by allowing HD content to be viewed on large screens with no wires and no delays.

The GameChanger reference designs include FCC and EU regulatory tested RF module designs that are optimized for seamless integration into ODM and OEM mobile devices. All hardware components, production-ready firmware, detailed schematics, and related documentation needed to develop cost-effective, high-quality, end-to-end embedded wireless video solutions are provided with each design.

Silicon Image GameChanger solutions will be demonstrated March 7-9 at the 2012 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. To schedule a meeting, contact press_relations@siliconimage.com.
