Axiomtek's new in-vehicle fanless box embedded computer has wide operating temps, anti-vibration

Axiomtek has rolled out an in-vehicle rugged embedded box system specially designed to fit vehicle applications. The tBOX311-820-FL is based on the low-power Intel Atom processor Z520PT 1.33 GHz and the Intel US15WPT chipset. The IP40-rated unit is targeted for mobile surveillance, fleet management, toll system, and intersection traffic control among other applications.
To withstand extreme working temperatures, Axiomtek has equipped this fanless unit to perform in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +65°C. Its CompactFlash and HDD drive bay on front side is swap-friendly and allows easy maintenance. In addition, the tBOX311-820-FL features one isolated CAN bus port and one isolated COM port for standard industrial communication. The isolated port design prevents ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and over-voltage by offering magnetic isolation protection.
The rugged all-in-one tBOX311-820-FL is certified with an eMark for in-vehicle equipment and it is ISO-7637 certified for vehicle power requirement. In addition, the embedded system supports 80W intelligent vehicle power supply for any in-vehicle environments.

The tBOX311-820-FL offers one isolated CAN bus port for use in vehicles to connect engine control unit, and 1 isolated COM port for various other device connectivity. The swappable and front-accessible CompactFlash socket and HDD drive bay is convenient for easy maintenance and system upgrade.
This compact unit adopts an IP40-rated and rugged aluminum and cold-rolled steel enclosure. Its significant anti-vibration design can endure up to 2Grms (with CF & HDD). To withstand extreme working temperatures, its fanless operation design incorporates a unique thermal solution that allows it to operate noiseless at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +65°C.
The Atom powered embedded platform delivers high-bandwidth expansion capability with three PCI Express Mini Card slots, one SIM slot for system configurations such as GPS, GSM/GPRS, WiFi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, HSDPA and more. One 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM socket supports maximum up to 2 GB DRAM for high system memory bandwidth. Rich I/O connections include four high-speed USB 2.0 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, VGA, audio as well as a built-in Watchdog Timer to reset the system after a crash or system error.
