Dev kit for Zynq-7000 EPP speeds development
Toni McConnel6/4/2012 3:40 PM EDT
The ZedBoard from Avnet Electronics Marketing and Digilent, Inc. is a development kit for the Xilinx, Inc. Zynq-7000 Extensible Processing Platform (EPP). ZedBoard allows designers and students to explore and prototype their application ideas for the new Zynq-7000 EPP architecture.
Key features
The ZedBoard kit includes the ZedBoard, power supply, USB cable, and pre-configured SD card containing a bootable Linux reference design. ZedBoard.org will host user-created reference designs and projects, enabling the community of Zynq-7000 EPP designers to collaborate and share design ideas.

Zynq’s combination of dual-ARM cores and programmable logic on a single device means engineers with more diverse backgrounds can build highly integrated systems. The ZedBoard includes everything needed to build high-performance, application-specific digital systems. All of the interfaces have been thoroughly tested and debugged, so engineers and students can start working with their specific designs immediately.
The ZedBoard has been designed to deliver an optimal balance of features, low risk, and low costs to engineers designing for a wide range of control, bridging, communications, and intelligent video applications. The ZedBoard is on display at Avnet’s X-fest technical events. For the full list of events, visit www.em.avnet.com/xfest.
The commercial version of the ZedBoard is available from Avnet for $395; the academic version is available from Digilent for $299.
