The XO2 devices are in production now and are available for purchase now. If ...
The folks from Lattice Semiconductor have announced that all members of their MachXO2 family of PLDs (Programmable Logic Devices) have been fully qualified and released to volume production.
Recently named a 2011 "Hot 100" product by EDN magazine, the MachXO2 PLD family consists of nine devices in 29 device/package combinations to satisfy a broad range of customer requirements.
"We are very pleased to have reached this production release milestone for the entire MachXO2 family," said Shakeel Peera, Lattice Director of Marketing for Silicon & Solutions. "On-time delivery is one of Lattice’s cornerstone commitments to our customers and we’re proud to have accomplished the rollout of the MachXO2 family on schedule. Now that all MachXO2 family members are available in production quantities, we will be able to meet customer demand in high volume."
With the new $29.99 MachXO2 Breakout Board Evaluation Kit, engineers can easily evaluate and adopt MachXO2 PLD technology in a MachXO2-1200ZE device with 1280 look up tables of logic, 108 I/O with support for LVDS and DDR interfaces, and hardened implementations of I2C, SPI and timer/counter. Customers are able to install, connect and verify operating hardware with a pre-programmed test design in under three minutes, leading to further evaluation with their own designs.
Pricing and availability
The new MachXO2 1200ZE Breakout Board Evaluation Kit is immediately available for $29.99 via the Lattice online store at www.latticesemi.com/store and through authorized Lattice distributors at www.latticesemi.com/sales. Also available both online and through distributors are the MachXO2 Pico Development Kit and Control Development Kit for more advanced prototyping capability.
About the MachXO2 PLD family
MachXO2 devices provide designers of low density PLDs a mix of low cost, low power, and high system integration in a single, instant-on device. MachXO2 devices are available in both high performance and low power versions, suitable for system control and mobile consumer markets, respectively.
Built on a low power 65-nm process featuring embedded Flash technology, the MachXO2 family delivers a 3X increase in logic density, a 10X increase in embedded memory, and more than a 100X reduction in static power to as low as 19uW compared to the prior generation MachXO PLD family. These devices are ideal for control PLD applications in end markets such as telecom infrastructure, computing, high end industrial, high end medical, and low power applications such as smart phones, GPS devices and digital cameras.

Remember when "now in production" meant you could actually BUY something ?
Now, it has morphed to mean some internal company marketing flag-fall, and we can only guess when in 2012 these will actually become real devices, on a shelf.
