I must have been dozing under a rock last week, because I completely missed the news that Avnet and Digilent have introduced the ZedBoard (I WANT ONE!!!)

Yes, ZedBoard is very attractive. However, I think I'll wait for something cheaper. A $35 Raspberry Pi is low-cost. An $89 BeagleBone is low-cost. An $89 Avnet Spartan-6 LX9 MicroBoard is low-cost. Although ZedBoard does have a lot on it, I would call it "moderate cost" given that Xilinx touts the Zynq-7000's "starting price point below $15" in Xcell Journal (2Q2011).
