Opal Kelly's XEM6002 Integration Module with Pmod-compatible connectors

The folks from Opal Kelly, a leading producer of powerful FPGA modules that provide essential device-to-computer interconnect using USB or PCI Express, have just announced the addition of their XEM6002 integration module.

The XEM6002 includes four Digilent Pmod-Compatible connectors for attaching low-bandwidth peripheral modules, making it ideally suited for semiconductor evaluation and experimentation, and leverages the robust functionality of Opal Kelly’s FrontPanel software and SDK that provide an easy-to-use software interface between hardware and PCs.

The XEM6002 joins the Opal Kelly ShuttleLX1 (XEM6006), introduced last year, in a  growing family of FPGA modules focusing on semiconductor evaluation and experimentation.

The XEM6002 is based on a Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA (XC6SLX9-2FTG256C). It has a medium gate-count FPGA and utilizes the high-transfer rate of USB 2.0 for configuration downloads, enabling almost instant reprogramming of the FPGA. The XEM6002 features flexible clocking with a multi-output clock generator that can generate clock frequencies from 1 MHz to 150 MHz, with flexibility for higher frequencies if needed.

The XEM6002 low-cost evaluation board platform includes Opal Kelly’s powerful FrontPanel SDK, an easy-to-use software interface to hardware, enabling customers to evaluate semiconductors for their specific requirements.

“The XEM6002 with FrontPanel SDK is the best platform for integrating Pmod devices with PC, Mac, and Linux software,”
said Jake Janovetz, president of Opal Kelly. “Whether you're a semiconductor manufacturer looking for the ideal platform to present your new I2C, SPI, or 2-wire device, or an engineer looking to prototype a new concept, the possibilities are endless!”

The XEM6002 is available from the Opal Kelly Online Store. It is priced at $99.95/each for 1,000 pieces or more, and at $174.95 in unit quantities.  For more information, please contact Opal Kelly at sales@opalkelly.com
