The world’s fastest CMOS transmitter IC for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing line-side applications was unveiled by AppliedMicro. The S281.8032-QPSK Mux features line rates up to 31.8 Gbps per channel, and supports power-efficient, cost-effective deployments.
Features include:
• System interface supports CAUI or 10/20-lane SFI-S (With skew adjustment to match I & Q and X & Y )
•Performs DQPSK pre-coding
•Drives dual-polarization optical modulator to produce a 100Gbps signal on a single lambda
•Suitable for metro/regional and long-haul transmission
The S28032 is a scalable high-volume, low-power solution for ramping 100G deployments. It features a flexible interface for FPGA or ASIC connections, running hard or soft-decision forward error correction on a 10 or 20-lane SFI=S bus to optical drivers for such DWDM optical systems as PM-QPSK. It supports line rates from 27 Gbps through 31.8 Gbps for applications with 7%, 15% or 20% FEC overhead.
Sampling to select customers. Production quantities are expected in the second half of 2012.
