The SM4TY-SM30TY series of Transil miniature surge-protection devices by STMicroelectronics are certified to ISO pulse specifications preferred by the automotive industry. Removing independent certification, the transient voltage suppressors lower costs and increase time to market.

Voltage pulses in vehicle wiring damage sensitive subsystems including safety, control and infotainment equipment. Previously industrial standards were the measure of surge protection levels, rather than a more representative automotive-based standard.

Housed in miniature SMT power packages from 12.8mm2 to 46mm2 of PCB space, the devices can handle from 400W to 3000W of power in pulses and ESD transients on the vehicle’s wiring.

Features include:

  • Tested and certified using ISO 7637 specifications for electrical transients
  • Tested and certified using ISO 10605 specifications for ESD strike
  • AEC-Q101 certified
  • All devices available in unidirectional or bidirectional configuration

Available now; prices range from $0.118 to $0.528 for unidirectional, and $0.129 to $0.558 for bidirectional devices. Contact company for volume pricing.
