Texas Instruments has introduced a six-channel LED controller that drives up to 28 LEDs per string and has a dimming control.

The LM3463 is a 12-V to 95-V wide input voltage. In conjunction with external N-channel Mosfets and sense resistors the driver accurately and individually regulates current to each LED string, according to TI.

Key features and benefits of the LM3463 LED driver include:

  • Three dimming modes:  PWM input signals, analog-to-PWM input control or 4-byte data code.
  • Global analog brightness control
  • Cascadable in a master-slave configuration for applications requiring more than six-string LED operation.
  • Protection for  input under-voltage lock-out; LED open/short circuit; Mosfet thermal protection and over-temperature shutdown; fault output signal for an open LED string.
The LM3463 is offered in a 7-mm by 7-mm, 48-pin LLP package and is priced at  $4.19 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
