Single-stage LED driver targets price-sensitive retrofit bulbs

User-configurable PF control

In single-stage LED drivers, there is a correlation between improving power factor (PF) and increasing output ripple. iWatt said the patent-pending, user-configurable PF correction in the iW3626 allows users to configure the PF strength from > 0.7 to > 0.9, enabling them to meet the various global mandates for PFC and input harmonics, while managing the trade-off between PF and output ripple. This helps ensure the required PF can be achieved with low output ripple, minimizing both flicker and the size of the output capacitor.
