I just heard from the folks at Silicon Labs, who say that their new Precision32 32-bit MCU family redefines versatility, integration, power efficiency and ease of use for a broad range of embedded designs.

Based on the ARM Cortex-M3 processor, the Precision32 family includes over 30 USB and non-USB devices that offer a highly integrated, flexible architecture, a rich peripheral set, low power consumption, and a free Eclipse-based development suite, including a helpful rapid prototyping utility.

Flexible I/O system and pinout
Customizable pinout and peripherals speed time to market. Last minute design changes? No problem!

  • Patented dual-crossbar enables maximum system design flexibility, reduces board complexity and cost
  • AppBuilder software allows you to quickly map peripherals, customize pinouts, configure clock trees and generate source code

Analog integration
High level of peripheral integration eliminates multiple components, enabling a BOM savings of up to $1.34 (USD).

  • Crystal-less USB operation with integrated regulator
  • Analog specified and tested to operate over temperature and voltage (down to 1.8 V)
  • Six high drive, 300 mA I/Os that can directly drive small motors, power FETs, LEDs, buzzers, etc.
  • Up to 16 capacitive touch channels eliminate the need for separate touch sensor ICs

Industry-leading power efficiency
Power reductions within every block of the MCU design resulting in lower power consumption than competing 32-bit MCU solutions.

  • Up to 33% lower active current (22 mA at 80 MHz or 275 µA/MHz)
  • 100 times lower sleep current (0.35 µA with RTC enabled and 4 kB of RAM retention)
