Free code examples for Microchip PIC projects

I recently received an email from my chum David Ashton who lives "Down Under" in Australia (David is the hero who fixed my home-made Geiger Counter for me – Click Here to read more).
David and I trade jokes with each other (of course it goes without saying that mine are far funnier than his :-) I mention this only to set the context for David's email, in which he spake as follows:
Hi Max, this is the latest message from my Microchip rep. I was just going to forward you the joke, but the ECS bit sounded pretty good too, so I thought I'd forward the whole message to you. Cheers – David.
So, what follows is the message from the Microchip rep to David:
Embedded Code Source (ECS) is a Microchip site where you can browse and download free software / firmware code examples for your PIC projects. You'll find code for controlling simple timers and UARTs, low power modes, Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs), LCD displays, motor-control algorithms, and many more. There are presently more than 300 code examples available for download.
If you’d like to provide code for others to share, you can register to become an ECS developer. As a developer, this gives you a chance to take advantage of a FREE ecosystem and framework to deliver code examples that can potentially attract customers to your services.

Joke of the month
There was once an engineer who found a magic lamp. When he rubbed it, a genie jumped out and said to him “You have three wishes. But there is a catch – this wish system of mine was designed by a lawyer, so whatever you wish for, every lawyer in the world will get double!”
The engineer replied “That’s no problem. I can live with that.” He then said “For my first wish, I wish I had a Ferrari.”
“OK” said the genie, and a Ferrari appeared in front of the engineer. “But remember, every lawyer in the world now has two Ferraris.”
The engineer remained unperturbed and said “For my second wish, I wish for a million bucks.” So a million bucks appeared in front of the engineer and the genie said “Remember, every lawyer in the world now has two million bucks.”
The engineer then nonchalantly said, for my third wish, “I always wished I could donate a kidney!”
