The BCM4335 is a complete 5G Wi-Fi system including MAC, PHY and RF with Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio and software in a single Broadcom chip. To date, it is alone in addressing unique interference challenges in systems with $G LTE cellular radios and wireless connectivity. Program-agnostic, the chip can be added to any smartphone or tablet design.
Based on the IEEE 802.11ac standard and 5G Wi-Fi, the chip features advanced power consumption performance that significantly extends battery life. Broadcom’s TurboQAM technology enables the highest data-rate 256-QAM mode in 2.4 GHz, so that devices using the chip can deliver 10% faster throughputs than 802.11 speeds when communicating with other 5G devices. Other features include:
- High-throughput mobility interfaces include SDIO 3.0, PCIe and HSIC
- PHY rates of 433 Mb/s boost wireless throughput significantly
- Advanced beamforming
- Low-Density Parity Check
- Space-Time Block Code
- Built-in media processing to offload host processor
- Integrated support for Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint technologies
The BCM4335 is sampling to early access customers. Full production in Q1, 2013.
