Arbitrary waveform generator goes precise, fast, and long

Arbitrary waveform generators (AWG) are the kind of test and measurement product that, when you need one, you really don’t have much alternative. Unlike fixed-function generators, AWGs allow engineers to create almost any waveform and then control its timing, repeatability, and other parameters with ease and consistency. Some even let you add pseudorandom noise to the programmed clean waveform.

Agilent Technologies has just announced a high-end, high-performance AWG with a sophisticated internal topology. You can read two reports about it:
