R&S modular platform tests A/V interfaces

The VTC video test center from Rohde & Schwarz tests the functionality and standards compliance of audio/video interfaces, including HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) and MHL (mobile high-definition link), used in consumer electronics equipment, such as set-top boxes, tablet PCs, and smart phones. Combining real-time protocol and media-content analysis, the modular platform can be modified at any time to meet the requirements of specific R&D test environments. It can also be upgraded to comply with new standards.

VTC accommodates up to eight test modules. In combination with the HDMI options, the system offers real-time analysis of video and audio parameters, as well as info frames. To test sources and sinks, the VTC performs system protocol test in line with the HDMI compliance test specification 1.4c. The VT-B2361 HDMI RX option tests ultra-definition resolutions up to 4k×2k pixels.

Several options are available for the automatic analysis of media content for both HDMI and MHL signals. The VT-K2100 video-analysis option measures the timing and level of each video-signal component in real time, making it possible to verify whether color transmission is correct. The VT-K2110 A/V inspection and VT-K2111 A/V distortion analysis options assist users in performing difference picture analyses. Additionally, the VTC identifies key parameters, such as audio level, frequency response, phase response, signal-to-noise ratio, distortion, and crosstalk.

The VTC video test center and VT-B2360/2361 HDMI RX options, as well as a variety of software options, will be available in August, 2012.
