WLAN research, design, and manufacturing engineers can now use the S-Series of RF signal generators and analyzers from Aeroflex to meet their IEEE 802.11ac test requirements. The S-Series line offers a wide bandwidth of 200 MHz, fast level and frequency settling times of 100 µs, and low phase-noise performance of −135 dB/Hz at 1 GHz (20-kHz offset).

SGD RF digital signal generators, updated with Option 119 for 802.11ac, support bandwidths of 20 MHz, 40 MHz, 80 MHz, 80+80 MHz, and 160 MHz and up to eight spatial streams. Using an embedded version of Aeroflex's IQCreator waveform-creation software, 802.11ac waveforms can be created and played from within the signal generator. Modulation schemes up to 256QAM are supported. Factory calibration maintains the instrument's orthogonality (the 90-degree relationship between I and Q) as the baseband frequency increases, giving the SGD its 200-MHz of factory-calibrated signal bandwidth.

SVA vector signal analyzers, updated with Option 110, leverage the WLAN Measurement Suite with 802.11ac capability. The suite includes measurement tools for analyzing WLAN OFDM, DSSS, and DSSS-OFDM RF signal characteristics in accordance with IEEE 802.11a, b, g, n, and ac.
