Rohde & Schwarz adds frequency converter measurements to ZNB vector network analyzers

The R&S ZNB-K4 software option for the Rohde & Schwarz R&S ZNB series of vector network analyzers (VNAs) extends the instruments capability by mixer and frequency converter measurements. It includes a graphical wizard for setup and execution of complex measurements. The VNAs feature the R&S SMARTer Cal calibration technique which combines vector-error-corrected calibration with power calibration for improved accuracy, and therefore can also correct errors caused by test port mismatch.
The graphical wizard guides users through setup and calibration procedures. With the wizard, users can configure RF, IF and LO (local oscillator) frequencies and power levels, as well as the source for the LO signal. The graphical display gives an immediate overview of current settings. The R&S ZNB‑K4 also supports sophisticated applications such as measurements on harmonic mixers, converters with multiple mixer stages, and frequency multipliers.
When the R&S ZNB is equipped with a second generator it provides the LO signal for a mixer. If the application requires more sources, the R&S ZNB can also control multiple external generators.
