Microchip's new volatile digital-to-analog converter (DAC)
Clive Maxfield9/3/2012 12:00 PM EDT
I always like to receive these cut-down product releases from the folks at Microchip, because they cut out all of the waffle (you can click here to see the full-up version with all of the waffle) and get straight down to the nitty-gritty details as follows…
Key facts
Packaging, pricing, and availability
The MCP47A1 DAC is available today for sampling and volume production, at $0.42 each in 5,000-unit quantities. It is offered in a 6-pin SC70 package.
For further information, contact any Microchip sales representative or authorized worldwide distributor, or visit Microchip’s Website. To purchase products mentioned in this press release, go to microchipDIRECT or contact one of Microchip’s authorized distribution partners.
If you found this article to be interest, visit Microcontroller / MCU Designline where – in addition to my Max's Cool Beans blogs on all sorts of "stuff" – you will find the latest and greatest design, technology, product, and news articles with regard to all aspects of designing and using microcontrollers.
Also, you can obtain a highlights update delivered directly to your inbox by signing up for my weekly newsletter – just Click Here to request this newsletter using the Manage Newsletters tab (if you aren't already a member you'll be asked to register, but it's free and painless so don't let that stop you [grin]).
Last but certainly not least, make sure you check out all of the discussions and other information resources at All Programmable Planet. For example, in addition to blogs by yours truly, microcontroller expert Duane Benson is learning how to use FPGAs to augment (sometimes replace) the MCUs in his robot (and other) projects.
Key facts
- Low-power, low-cost DAC features a 1.8-5.5V wide operating voltage range, and is offered in a 6-pin SC70 package.
- Ideal for applications in the automotive, audio and industrial markets, such as portable, handheld battery-operated products, and applications such as set-point or offset trimming and sensitive mechanical-trim pot replacement.
- Extended temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees Celsius allows for use in high-temperature automotive and industrial applications. Additionally, the small SC70 packaging allows for more portable and space-constrained consumer applications.
- Provides 65 taps, through an I2C interface, including taps to both full-scale and zero-scale, providing additional functionality.
