The Toolkit is a collection of libraries, applications, and diagnostics that help users to easily integrate their applications with BittWare hardware, and includes the Host Interface Library, the BittWare Configuration Manager, BitLoader, Diag21k, DSPTest, DSPBAD, FlashLoader, and DSPGraph.

Included in Version 8.0 are many updates, the most significant being the absorption of BittWare's Remote Client Toolkit into the DSP21k Toolkit, giving users the convenience of remote access to BittWare hardware without the need to purchase and install two separate software packages.

The Toolkit now supports both 32-bit and 64-bit OS' making it possible for Toolkits running on 32-bit systems to access remote hardware on 64-bit systems, or vice versa. BitLoader, the BittWorks utility for loading code into an FPGA or Flash device via PCI bus, has a redesigned GUI/API which now allows for the loading of multiple FPGAs and Flash devices on the same hardware.

Past versions of BittWorks included the DSP21k Toolkit and the Remote Client Toolkit as two separate purchases and installations. As of Version 8.0, the DSP21k Toolkit includes all functionality of the Remote Client Toolkit, enabling designers to connect to a remote device while continuing to use the DSP21k Toolkit as if the remote device were installed locally. The capability to communicate with multiple remote devices, on multiple machines, all at the same time from the same Toolkit application has also been added to Version 8.0.
