According to Xilinx, fab partners UMC and Toshiba have ramped 65-nm production quickly, producing yields high enough to allow Xilinx to ship all Virtex-5 LX devices on time and over one year ahead of its competition.
Xilinx also started to ship the LX220, which completes the rollout of the Virtex-5 LX family.Virtex-5 LX devices feature an advanced architecture, enabling up to 30% higher design performance with the industry's lowest power consumption for high-performance FPGAs at equivalent logic density levels, according to the company.
The LX platform consists of six devices offering up to 330,000 logic cells, 1200 user I/Os, 10-Mbits of 36-Kbit block RAM, and 3.4-Mbits of distributed RAM, plus an abundance of hardened intellectual property blocks.
