Xilinx launches new XtremeDSP development kit and tools package
Clive Maxfield1/28/2008 10:06 AM EST
The new bundle and kit offerings include new package pricing that makes it easier for algorithm and system developers who use MATLAB to create high-performance DSP systems using Xilinx FPGAs. The individual DSP design tools, System Generator for DSP and AccelDSP continue to be offered individually to accommodate specific needs of customers.
New XtremeDSP tool suite package
System Generator allows designers to graphically capture and verify high-performance DSP subsystems in Simulink using a Xilinx-optimized DSP blockset, and to integrate those sub-systems with Xilinx embedded processors and RTL to create complete DSP systems.
AccelDSP extends these capabilities to include design exploration and floating- to fixed-point conversion of MATLAB algorithms targeting Xilinx FPGAs. Xilinx says that the XtremeDSP tool Suite Package unites these powerful design solutions into a single integrated DSP development environment at an affordable price.
New XtremeDSP development kit
The XtremeDSP Development Kit – Virtex-5 DSP Edition comes with the ML506 development board, reference designs, IP cores, cables, and XtremeDSP development tools to give users the ability to create DSP and high-speed serial designs utilizing the Virtex-5 DSP48E slices and RocketIO GTP transceivers.
A variety of onboard memory and industry-standard connectivity interfaces add to the ML506's ability to serve as a versatile development platform for applications serving wireless, automotive, medical, defense and other applications. For low-cost applications, developers can use the XtremeDSP Solutions Starter Platform – Spartan-3A DSP 1800A FPGA Edition that was announced in September 2007.
Availability and pricing
The AccelDSP synthesis tool and System Generator for DSP (which previously sold separately for $4,995 and $995, respectively) are now available as a packaged bundle for $1,495 (DO-DSP-PC).
The individual tools continue to be available separately for $895 and $995 respectively. The XtremeDSP Development Kit – Virtex-5 DSP Edition (DO-V5-DSP-DK-SG-UNI-G) is available now for $1,695, For more information, please visit www.xilinx.com/dsp.
