SAN FRANCISCO—Australian design software vendor Altium Ltd. Tuesday (Feb. 2) unveiled a new version of its NanoBoard 3000 FPGA-based development board that features a Cyclone III FPGA from Altera Corp.

Last September, Altium brought out the NanoBoard 3000 with a Spartan-3 FPGA from Xilinx Inc. Altium (Sydney) said at the time is planned to introduce versions with FPGAs from Altera (San Jose, Calif.) and Lattice Semiconductor Corp.

NanoBoard 3000 comes with hardware, software, royalty-free IP and a dedicated Altium Designer Soft Design license.

"As we said last September, electronics designers without any prior FPGA skills can use the NanoBoard 3000 to construct sophisticated 'soft' processor-based systems inside the FPGA," said Nick Martin, CEO of Altium, in a statement.

The NanoBoard 3000AL, featuring the Cyclone III device, and NanoBoard 3000XN, featuring Spartan-3, are available for $395 each, Altium said. More information on the boards is available on Altium's website.
