Vast adds performance, power enhancements to flagship tool

SAN FRANCISCO — Virtual system prototyping technology provider Vast Systems Technology Corp. Monday (July 17) introduced the latest version of its flagship Comet virtual system prototyping solutions, said to offer the richest set of product enhancements to date.

With Comet6, designers can analyze and optimize architecture and software for power, according to according to Vast (Sunnyvale, Calif.). Comet6 also delivers increased run-time performance for multi-core designs, enhanced interoperability and SystemC support and tighter integrations to design implementation, the company said.

"Comet6's mix of high performance, support for standards and interoperability, and new user interfaces enable Vast customers to achieve even greater levels of productivity," said Jeff Roane, Vast's director of marketing, in a statement.

According to Vast, Comet6 also offers several other enhancements over its predecessor, including: multi-core performance improvement; interoperability through Native IEEE 1666 SystemC and OCP-IP TL2; power analysis; interoperability through Eclipse support; interoperability through HDL co-simulation; a virtual platform editor; and Linux support.

Comet6 is currently in beta release and will be generally available later this quarter, Vast said. The company plans to demonstrate Comet6 here at the Design Automation Conference next week.

Also Monday, Vast announced the creation of the 1-Source initiative to unify the embedded system design flow.
