Simberian tool takes package design out of the cold
Seattle, Wash. — Simberian has updated its Simbeor software tool for PCB and package designers by synthesizing differential via-holes geometry for impedance-controlled high-speed channels. Simberian is a developer of electromagnetic software for the high-speed and high-frequency electronic design automation.

In the latest version Simbeor 2007, after the via-hole structures are created, Simbeor extracts broadband full-wave S-parameter models without any additional steps. Design of multi-gigabit data channels is practically impossible without 3D full-wave models for via-holes and building impedance-controlled vias enables reliable transmission of data with higher bit rate over longer distances.

The software enables simulation of conductor surface finish with multilayered metal. Some surface finishing processes use metals such as nickel with parameters that can significantly degrade signals. Simbeor is claimed to be the industry-first tool that can extract broadband modal and per unit length parameters of transmission lines and multiport parameters of discontinuities for planar structures plated with any number of metal layers. Surface roughness can be also accounted for.

Simbeor 2007 runs on any computer with Pentium, dual-core or quad-core processor, Windows 2000/XP and compatible OS. Simbeor features are united into two license levels.

Pricing: U.S. list price for annual node-locked license with Level 1 features is $4,500 and with Level 2 features is $7,500. Network or floating licenses are also available. Software updates are also included with the annual license of Simbeor 2007.
