Agilent LPDDR3 application tests physical layer compliance

A test application for systems using low-power DDR3 memory provides LPDDR3 physical-layer compliance measurements for engineers testing memory solutions for smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles, and other consumer electronics. The Agilent U7231B LPDDR3 test application features automated testing routines for clock, electrical and timing tests. The application supports user-selected tests and configurations based on JEDEC JESD79-3E and JESD79-3-1 specification data rate with option to turn on LPDDR3 data rate tests and user-defined speed for embedded designs. It provides read-write burst signal separation on the same bus in real-time mode, allowing powerful debug and analysis. A wizard tool automates voltage threshold settings for nonstandard operating voltages to increase flexibility in characterization work.

The application offers test engineers the ability to analyze the loading effect of adjacent RANK of the same memory channel. Users can characterize devices through multiple trials to show a full array of statistics for each measurement and return the worst measurement value. The application automatically performs  derating table calculations for setup and hold time measurements based on slew rates. It configures the oscilloscope for each test and generates a HTML report at the end of the test.

The U7231B runs on Agilent Infiniium 9000, 90000A and 90000 X-Series oscilloscopes, enabling engineers to easily debug signal integrity issues using new multichannel and multizone triggering scope features. Associated LPDDR3 BGA probing solutions provide the LPDDR3 signal accessibility needed to perform physical-layer characterization, protocol analysis, and compliance tests. The U7231B LPDDR3 compliance test integrates InfiniiSim and PrecisionProbe tools to enable de-embedding, which removes probing effects, thereby improving measurement accuracy.

The Agilent U7231B DDR3 and LPDDR3 compliance test application is available now for $4,200. An upgrade from the current U7231A DDR3 compliance software test application to include support for LPDDR3 is available with U7231B-002, priced at $2,000. Read the data sheet or contact Agilent.
