IDT introduces temperature sensor for SSDs

A new family of temperature sensors for enterprise SSD applications minimizes power consumption while eliminating the need for additional voltage regulators. The IDT TS3000GB0A0 from Integrated Device Technology Inc. supports 1.8-V power supply for reduced power consumption and maintains compatibility with the existing supply voltage for SSD memory modules.
"Enterprise SSDs can provide significant performance enhancements with lower power consumption in smaller footprints," says John Unsworth of Gartner Research. "Demand for enterprise-grade SSDs has gained tremendous traction over the past few years. We predict unit shipments to grow by over 41% in the next five years while sales will more than quadruple for SSD providers during that timeframe."
IDT’s JEDEC-compatible sensor, which supports SMBus and I2C interfaces, integrates on-die power management to minimize power consumption during critical modes. It also features input glitch filtering and power-up voltage hysteresis to enhance fault tolerance. An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) enables programmable resolution up to 12 bits (0.0625° C) with conversion time of less than 100 ns irrespective of the resolution.
Currently sampling to qualified customers, the IDT TS3000GB0A0 comes in RoHS-compliant 8-pin TDFN packages. The cost is $1.12 each for volumes of 10,000 units. For more information, visit www.idt.com/go/TempSensor.
