TDK develops mSATA SSD for industrial applications
Kristin Lewotsky5/14/2012 4:06 PM EDT
An embedded mSATA SSD with 3 Gb/s SATA support meets the requirements of industrial applications while offering storage capacities of up to 64 GB. Measuring 30 mm x 50 mm, the SMG3B series from TDK Corp. achieves 170 MB/s read speeds and 70 MB/s write speeds.
The drives use TDK’s GBDriver RS3 controller featuring error correction expandable to 44-bit ECC. They offer enhanced data reliability courtesy of a power-interruption data preservation algorithm and auto refresh function. A data randomizer varies data patterns during write to reduce the risk of bit errors. The integrated 128-bit AES encryption function automatically encrypts data when writing to the NAND flash memory. Users also can set a password to counter the risk of data leaks, tampering, or unauthorized copying.
The SSDs start shipping in July 2012. For more information, visit TDK.
