A new SATA 6 Gb/s SSD leverages 24-nm enterprise multi-level cell (eMLC) NAND flash. The XceedIOPS2 from Smart Storage Systems delivers up to 520 MB/s of sequential read/write speed and up to 60,000/40,000 random read/write IOPS. Ranging from 50 GB to 400 GB, the device offers a comprehensive error correction and detection engine, multi-level data-path and code protection, data-fail recovery, advanced thermal management features, and high-reliability back-up power circuitry. Additionally, a flash-management algorithm includes bad-block management, wear leveling, and minimal write amplification.

Key features:
Performance

  • Burst: 600 MB/s
  • Sustained read/write: Up to 520/500 MB/s
  • Random Read/Write: Up to 60,000/40,000 IOPS
  • Access time:  <1.0 ms
Reliability
  • Data reliability: 1 unrecoverable error in 1018 bits read
  • Endurance: Five-year lifetime
  • Error correction/error detection (BCH): 55 bits for every 512-byte sector
  • Data-fail recovery: Recover up to 1 NAND flash erase block of data
  • Temperature monitoring: Performance throttling upon warning/critical temperature
  • Encryption: AES-256 (FIPS-197 Certified)
  • Security: TCG-Enterprise

The XceedIOPS2 comes in 1.8-in. and 2.5-in. form factors. For more information, see the data sheet.
