Microchip introduces parallel flash development kit

A flash development kit allows designers to quickly create code and shorten overall development time. The Parallel SuperFlash Kit 1 from Microchip Technology comprises two parallel flash PICtail Plus daughter boards, one with a 64 Mb device (the SST38VF6401) from the Advanced MPF+ family, and one with a 16 Mb device (the SST39VF1601C) from the MPF+ family. Supporting any 3V parallel flash products from Microchip, the daughter boards interface with the PICtail Plus connector found on Microchip’s Modular Explorer 16 Development Board. They also work with the company’s integrated debugging tool, known as MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment, where users can swiftly write software routines using known good hardware.

Additional features include a 16-pin header that provides easy access to the parallel flash device’s data pins for probing and evaluation; a 32-pin right-angled header that accesses the address and control pins for probing and evaluation; and a 2-pin header/jumper, offering the flexibility to use either on-board power or an external power supply.
