A new FRAM device targets products requiring a wide voltage range. The MB85RC256V from Fujitsu Semiconductor America operates from 2.7 V to 5.5 V. The unit also features memory capacity of 256 Kb with configurations of 32 k × 8 bits, 1012 times read/write cycle capability, and 10 years of data retention at industrial temperature ranges.

The IC supports a two-wire serial bus transmission protocol (I2C) with frequencies up to 1 MHz when running between 4.5 V and 5.5 V and frequencies of 400 kHz when operating between 2.7 V and 4.5 V. Its operating power supply current is 250 µA (max at 1 MHz), with a standby current of 27 µA (typical).

MB85RC256V is available now in two varieties of SOP-8 packages (3.9 mm × 5.05 mm and 5.30 mm × 5.24 mm) to support different layout design requirements. Visit Fujitsu to view the data sheet.
