Toshiba samples 64-GB universal flash storage

A 64-GB embedded NAND flash memory module features a universal flash storage (UFS) interface. Toshiba Corp. has begun shipping samples of its new device, designed to support high-resolution video in consumer products such as smartphone and tablets. The drive complies with the JEDEC UFS Ver.1.1 standard. The interface handles essential functions such as writing block management, error correction and driver software.
Samples are primarily targeting evaluation of the UFS interface and its protocol in host chipsets and by OS vendors. Toshiba will schedule mass production of the 64-GB UFS module, along with additional densities, according to market demand.
