San Jose, Calif.—Parade Technologies Ltd. has introduced the PS8311 DisplayPort repeater device that improves performance and integration for dual-mode or multi-mode DisplayPort Source devices.

Like its predecessor the PS8121ED, the PS8311 improves the output signal quality of a DisplayPort transmitter or source, such as a GPU. Using advanced adaptive equalization technology, the PS8311 removes signal distortion introduced by long PCB traces and by long or marginal connectors within the DisplayPort signal path between a GPU source and display sink.

The PS8311 includes a new automatic input equalizer function, an integrated multiplexer for the HDMI/DVI DDC signal and DisplayPort AUX channel, and a new automatic power management circuitry.

To reduce to possibility of jitter that may be imposed by high drive levels at the repeater input, the PS8311's automatic equalization adjustment feature automatically adjusts the input gain and equalization level based on the link training commands. This compensates for expected input level changes, and also allows the PS8311 to be placed closer to the original DisplayPort Source device, where amplitude and pre-emphasis levels will be higher.

Applications include notebook PCs, docking stations, and desktop PCs.The PS8311 comes in a 48-pin TQFP RoHS package.

Pricing: $1.50 in volume.
Availability: Sampling.
