Flexible loop antenna saves 50% over active patch solutions

The FXP.611 Cloud is a GPS/Glonass flexible loop antenna that resists external detuning effects. With a small form factor of 38 x 37 x 0.1mm, the peel and stick, flexible loop antenna targets GPS/Glonass M2M devices, and outperforms most active patch antennas at approximately half the cost.

Features include:
- The antenna eliminates the need for a filter or low noise amplifier and can connect directly to a module or to a connector on a board.
- The "peel and stick" mounting using 3M tape can be attached to plastic device housings, freeing up board space.
- Incorporates a unique detuning design with dual resonance.
- Radiates power uniformly with an omnidirectional design, making it suitable for use in fixed-position devices.
The FXP.611 Cloud antenna is available. Contact company for pricing.

I don't understand the use of the word "loop" to describe this antenna. It's a "whip" or "monopole" by any conventional definition. A "loop" antenna is just that, a loop of wire with one or more turns ... and is generally useful for low-frequency applications such as broadcast AM radio. Is this a case of marketing folks messing with the language yet again?
