Romoland, Calif. — Designed for pulse and signal applications in timing, gate drive and data transmission circuits, the new 4257 pulse transformers from Datatronics Romoland, Inc. feature a rugged sealed design that meets Mil-PRF-21038 requirements for military, aerospace, instrumentation and other hi-reliability applications. These include trigger and signal applications in radar, motor speed controls, instrumentation and data transmission.

The model 4257 pulse transformers feature a dielectric strength of 250 Vrms, insulation resistance of 10,000 MΩ and will withstand a maximum peak pulse voltage of up to 50 V. They also provide a wide inductance range from 30 to 500 μH, depending on the model. Other key specs include a direct current resistance (DCR) of 0.38 to 0.81 Ω (primary), leakage inductance from 0.13 to 0.50 μH and an interwind capacitance from 7.5 to 25 pF. Turns ratio ranges from 1:1:1 to 2:1:1 (primary, secondary, tertiary). The operating temperature range is -30°C to 80°C with a service life exceeding 10,000 hours.

The through-hole transformers measure 0.30 in. (7.62 mm) wide x 0.40 in. (10.2 mm) long x 0.170 in. (4.32 mm) high (seated). Compatible with either dip or wave soldering, the devices are available in both tube and tape-and-reel packaging for automated assembly.

Model 4257 transformers are priced at $7.00 each in quantities of <1,000. Delivery is from stock to eight weeks.
