Product Brief
Low-ESR solid tantalum chip capacitors feature built-in fuse

The TF3 series is designed to provide a very high level of protection against short circuits in safety-critical applications. An internal electronic fusing mechanism activates within 0.1 second with a minimum of 5A applied at +25 degree C.
In the event of a failure due to excessive current flow, this fusing prevents damage to circuit components. With their low ESR down to 0.25 Ohm at + 25 degree C and 100kHz, the capacitors are optimized for high-current applications (over 10A) requiring this level of safety, including industrial applications, medical instrumentation, diagnostic and control equipment, high-end computing and data storage, and telecom base stations.
The TF3 devices come in a capacitance range of 0.47microF to 470microF in the C, D, and E case codes. The capacitors provide a high ripple current carrying capability and feature a voltage range from 4 to 50V over an operating temperature range of -55 to + 125 degree C.
Compatible with high-volume automatic pick-and-place equipment, the TF3 series has standard RoHS-compliant tin terminations, with Sn/Pb terminations available. The devices are 100 percent surge current tested and meet EIA 535BAAC requirements.
Samples and production quantities of the new low-ESR TF3 solid tantalum chip capacitors are available now, with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
