Raleigh, N.C. – Stackpole Electronics Inc. is marketing its latest RNCS series of passivated nichrome thin-film precision chip resistors as a low-cost alternative to tantalum nitride-based devices.
With a 30% lower price tag than its tantalum nitride equivalent, the RNCS series resistors features intermediate silicon-based passivation that provides an impervious barrier to moisture, which eliminates the potential for corrosion that can cause standard nichrome elements to degrade and eventually open. The RNCS Series is aimed at metering and instrumentation, controls, and remote monitoring for industrial and commercial applications, energy monitoring and control, telecom infrastructure, non-established reliability aerospace, RF and IF attenuators, fuel cell systems and assemblies, and biomedical instrumentation and control.
