San Jose, Calif.—Citing a step increase in current delivery and power density over the traditional small-footprint point-of-load converter, FDK's FPMR12TR7508NA (0.9-by-0.4-by-0.195 inch SIP package) and the FPMR12SR7508NA (0.8-by-0.45-by-0.211 inch SMD package), in the company's Senpai series, deliver 8 amps for intermediate bus and distributed power applications. Touting a power density of 600 watts per cubic inch and claiming 60 percent higher output current than competing converters working from a 6-14 volt input, they're especially designed for applications requiring high efficiency, tight regulation, and high reliability in elevated temperature environments with minimum airflow.

"The 8-amp converters of the Senpai Series set new standards for point of load power delivery," said executive advisor Apurba Roy. "They provide significantly higher output power than other POL converters in these standard footprints, are able to operate with no derating in high temperature and low airflow environments, and yet are extremely cost competitive.”

The converters are available in both fixed and programmable output versions (0.75 to 5.5 VDC). Both products feature remote on/off, over-current and over-temperature protection, and output voltage adjust.
