EnOcean GmbH has introduced the ESK 300 starter kit that is said to simplify the testing and development of energy harvesting wireless solutions for OEM partners

ESK 300 comes with electromechanical push button generators for switches and a solar powered temperatures sensor. Radio telegrams sent by the self-powered sensors are received via USB dongle and visualized via PC software. ESK 300 (868MHz) is provided as developer tool without CE certification. It is available for 868 MHz (R&TTE) and 315 MHz (FCC) frequencies.

The kit is composed of a switch module (PTM 200) for building services, components for different switch applications (PTM 330, ECO 200), a temperature sensor module (STM 330), a USB gateway (USB 300), PC software for visualization (DolphinView Basic) and a sample case for industrial switching solutions.

ESK 300 Starter kit content:
. User Manual
. USB 300(C): USB Stick Transceiver
. PTM 200(C): Self-powered push button
. STM 330(C): Self-powered temp. sensor
. ECO 200: Push button energy generator
. PTM 330(C): Push button radio module
. Housing examples
. License for DolphinView Basic

Applications:
Energy harvesting –From building automation through smart homes and smart metering to industry and logistics.

Availability and price:
The starter kit is available now for OEM partners at 79 euros ($106)

Nice product. Do they have energy harvesting to replace Li-Ion battery for RTC?

Thanks very much for your question.

I have contacted EnOcean, and here is their answer: “EnOcean’s harvesting devices are aimed at low power wireless monitoring and control of EnOcean modules so would not be used to replace a Li Ion based RTC.”

I hope that helps...
Best, Anne-Françoise
