Deskew fixture for oscilloscopes

3/7/2013 8:31 AM EST
Rohde & Schwarz debuted a new deskew fixture on its R&S RT-ZF20 oscilloscope at Embedded World 2013 that can be added to any oscilloscope to accurately align voltage and current signals. The company claims that the deskew fixture makes it easy to measure delay differences, which can then be corrected in the oscilloscope.

According to the R&S RT-ZF20 Power Deskew Fixture manual,  the R&S RT-ZF20:
  • is a tool to align the time delay (skew) of any combination of Rohde & Schwarz voltage and current probes. The fixture can be used with any oscilloscope.
  • generates pulses with different transit times, voltage swings, and current swings that can be tapped at various probe connectors. To align two probes, the delay time of the measurement channels is adjusted until the pulses coincide on the oscilloscope display.
  • can be used for a functional check of the rise time of Rohde & Schwarz current probes.
