Texas Instruments has announced two USB-based evaluation and development tools for the company's Piccolo 32-bit TMS320F2802x microcontrollers. The Piccolo controlSTICK and USB Experimenter's Kit are designed to make it easier for designers to evaluate the Piccolo MCUs and develop more energy-efficient, real-time control applications.

Slightly larger than a memory stick, the Piccolo controlSTICK USB evaluation tool features on board emulation and access to all the I/O pins. It offers example projects that walk through the Piccolo MCUs' advanced functionality, from blinking an LED to configuring the high-resolution ePWM peripherals.

The Piccolo Experimenter's Kit allows designers to prototype and develop full Piccolo MCU-based projects quickly and easily. It features features onboard USB JTAG emulation, and a docking station with access to all controlCARD pins as well as a Piccolo controlCARD.

The Piccolo controlSTICK is priced at $39, while the Experimenter's Kit is $79.
