Java processor simplifies smart infrastructure design
Rich Pell3/3/2009 9:01 AM EST
Based on the company's aJ-100 processor, the aJ-102 is a 32-bit Java-technology microprocessor that includes a micro-programmed real-time kernel. It also integrates a DSP processor, a 10/100 Ethernet Controller, a USB OTG Controller, a discrete encryption/decryption processor, LCD controller, and additional I/O options to create a comprehensive SoC for remote infrastructure applications.
A patented multiple JVM (Java Virtual Machine) design creates a hardware firewall between multiple Java applications running concurrently. This allows deterministic hard real-time applications to run independently and to safely co-exist with networked applications.
The aJ-102 SoC Network Processor comes bundled with the aJile embedded RTOS, an optimizing application builder, debugging tools and an evaluation kit that provides a complete silicon-based solution for the JME platform. Offered in a 324-pin TFBGA package, the aJ-102 is tested to industrial temperature specifications.
aJ-102 samples are available now, with production volumes available in April. The aJ-102 is priced at $16.00/ ea. in high volume. The evaluation kit will be available in April, priced at $499 each.
